(NSFW)! Portraiture: Vannette with Jewelry, 2012
Portraits I took of my good friend Vannette yesterday. Her mom bought her this amazing cowrie necklace and earring set from Benin so we decided to photograph her in it. She has these beautiful blue-green walls in her bedroom so I used it as the background and used a combination of the natural light from the window and a very low diffused flash as a fill light. I turned the Iso all the way up to create a grainy texture….my inspiration was a series of black nudes from the seventies I saw a while ago so I wanted the final image to be highly contrasted, almost rough looking.
I love all of the extra negative space in the last photograph, I think it works.
I’m sure most of my male followers and the NSFW crowd who will see boobs and subsequently reblog this photo won’t bother to read any of the above but for those actually interested in photography/art that was my thought process.
That last photo is easily the best…a little less light would have given it an even more ‘strong’ feel…still a really dope photoset
